Introduction

The UT300R2U modem given by BSNL lately has a custom stripped down firmware. Almost all tutorials on port forwarding the modem assume you have the old firmware. This guide will show you how to forward your ports using the new firmware. If you are connecting to the internet using Bridged mode, you don't have to forward your ports. Port forwarding is necessary only if the router is working in PPPoE mode. If you would like to know more about port forwarding click here

To setup forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address. Change your ip address, subnet and default gateway as shown in the screenshot below. If you don't know how to make these changes click here.

Setup static ip address

Modifying your router settings

Open a web browser like Firefox or Internet Explorer. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. The default ip address of the router is "192.168.1.1". Enter the username and password. By default both the username and password are "admin".

Note - When you put your computer in a DMZ, it exposes all ports on that computer to the internet.

Enter your static ip address 192.168.1.2 in the text box and click on Save/Apply. You don't have to restart the router.

That's it! You are done. You can start using bit torrent clients like bitcomet and utorrent without any problems.

Note - You can forward ports to only one computer in your network.

To verify if a port is open or closed click here. Start a torrent client like bitcomet, enter the listen port number on the Canyouseeme webpage. If you have followed the above steps properly your port will be forwarded successfully.
